A very sad day indeed. Gone, but not forgotten
It is with deep sadness that we share that Dad, John “Sassy” Sinclair peacefully passed away in the early hours of Saturday 5th December 2020. This has been a tremendously long and difficult period of sickness for Sassy, but he was ready to go. Many of you have shared this journey with us. As his sons and family, we want to take this opportunity to say thank you. The support that you have provided both dad and the family has been invaluable.
Dad always approached his illness with guts and determination like he did with everything throughout his life. There was always a part of him that was missing after mum passed away back in 2012, and now they can be together again.
This year the global pandemic has brought about its unique challenges for all us. As we have navigated the year, we have considered the best way to send off such a lovable person like Dad.
It was Dad’s wishes that we hold a private funeral with his immediate family. He also asked that there be no flowers and that in lieu of flowers people make donations to Kidney Health Australia. We have set up a fundraising page in honour of Sassy which you can find here - In Memory | John "Sassy" Sinclair (gofundraise.com.au)
Finally, his last wish was that we send him off in style with all his friends and family at a good old party. Some of you might know that he already had a ‘practice wake’. In his words he told us “I wanted to make sure that you don’t stuff it up…”
We figure the best way to pay tribute to him is to make the real one even better!
We do however want to adhere to COVID rules from NSW Health and take all precautions to protect all of those that are special to Dad and the family. Thankfully the restrictions have just changed allowing us to have more people but finding a venue for the volume of people will be the challenge. In order to help us plan and cater, we would like to get some indication if you are wanting to attend Sassy’s Wake / Memorial.
Please SMS your interest to Sassy’s mobile - 0408 214 958. Include the number of people and the names of who would like to attend. We will then make the appropriate arrangements and let you all know. Please feel free to share this with others as appropriate.
Many thanks,
Craig, Todd, Neil, Fleur, Tania, Kate, Ryan, Charlotte, Anika, Lily and Ashton.
